Meagan and Clayton Stephens are loyal Be A Champ campers. Their first experience with the McPeak's was in 2001, and then they were hooked. Meagan and Clayton have attended both the cattle and lamb camps more then once. They learn something new every time- about themselves and how to fit or show better. They have made life long friends with follow campers, and instructors.
The Mc Peak's have had a huge influence on Meagan and Clayton, motivating them to higher levels of personal growth and livestock
showmanship.
Meagan attended the 2007 National 4-H Conference in Washington DC, Be a Champ was one of the building blocks to attain this honor. Motivation to excel in life and the show ring is a main component at Be A Champ.
Clayton has excelled in Public speaking; he is consistently nominated for state level 4-H public speaking. He won the JR division Public speaking contest at the 2006 National Junior Swine Summer Conference.Meagan has had Grand Champion lamb at the Dutchess County Fair for the last four years. She has been Jr Division Champion showman several years, last year she won Master showmanship.
Clayton has won several divisions of showmanship as well,. Jr. Swine Champion showman at the county and state level. As well as Champion Market hog and Champion Market lamb, at the Big E (the New England State Fair) , the principals taught at camp are used through out the livestock industry.
Meagan and Clayton were invited to be a feature segment on Martha Stewart in 2005. The TV crew followed Meagan and Clayton around the Dutchess County fair for a day, and then asked to have a 300 lb gilt brought to NY city for a live show. Meagan and Clayton accepted the challenge- in September 2005 Bubbles (Meagan's Landrace gilt) and the kids went to the studio and did the MARTHA show. They had a great time!
